It said China would not give up even an inch of land, adding that the Chinese military was determined, capable and confident in maintaining the country's sovereignty and integrity.

Following the Chinese government's statement, the Indian Ministry of Defense also issued a counter-statement.

It said China's actions in mobilizing large numbers of troops, aggression and disruptions were in complete violation of the terms of the bilateral agreement.

Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held a two-hour and 20-minute meeting with Chinese Defense Minister Wei Feng in Moscow on Friday to resolve border tensions.

The two are in Moscow to attend a conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. The two leaders held a bilateral meeting on their border at the end of the day on the sidelines of the conference.

At the end of the meeting, it was reported that New Delhi had agreed to work with Beijing to reduce tensions.

A statement from India's defense ministry on Saturday said the two sides had agreed on a point that neither side would do anything that could further complicate the situation or escalate tensions in the border area.
